after the second day of two-faced regattas for Italy in the men’s windsurfing (iQFoil class) in Marseille, the location where the sailing competitions are held for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Nicolò Renna, having retired in the first two Slalom races today, has therefore sunk in the general rankings.
Fortunately, the Italian was able to redeem himself in the last three races today (one Slalom and then two Courses, with a breeze of 12-18 knots), archiving in order a fourth, a second and a fifth partial place that have brought him back into the top 10 after 6 total races. The reigning world champion is precisely in sixth place overall with 38 net points, currently discarding one of his two DNFs.
In front of everyone for the moment we find the Dutch Luuc Van Opzeeland with 19 net points, with a margin of 3 lengths on the Polish Pawel Tarnowski and 4 on the Israeli Tom Reuveny. Fifth, just ahead of our standard-bearer, the French Nicolas Goyard, one of the big favorites for the Olympic title. The first ten classified at the end of the qualification phase will access the Medal Series, where the podium will be defined.
