PARIS 2024 CROWNS THE FIRST CHAMPIONS IN HISTORY
Marseille hosted the first kitesurfing competition in Olympic history, marking the debut of this discipline in the Olympic program.
MEN’S KITESURFING FINAL PARIS 2024 OLYMPICS
The men’s final began with qualifiers Riccardo Pianosi, Bontus, Slovenian Toni Vodisek and Singaporean Maximilian Maeder. After just one race, won by Bontus, the wind suddenly dropped, forcing the jury to interrupt the competition.
At the time of the stop, the rankings saw Vodisek in the lead with two victories accumulated in the previous phases, followed by Maeder and Bontus with one victory each, with Pianosi in fourth place, still without successes in the final Medal Series.
The next day saw Pianosi try to fight with all his strength to climb the rankings but the situation did not change significantly. Bontus managed to get his second and third victory, thus securing the gold medal in a final that will go down in history for its unpredictability.
